Annually,
The Fairmount School of Music hosts three recitals showcasing
a specific genre of music. Although participation is optional,
we encourage students to participate as the experience provides
valuable performance time in front of an actual audience. Each
recital is followed by a reception where students receive participation
awards.
Traditional recital:
For students studying classical piano
and voice, jazz piano, woodwind, brass or string instruments
or musical theatre. Students perform as soloists.
Rock and Roll recital:
For guitar, bass, keyboard and percussion
students with an interest in Rock and Roll, blues, heavy metal
and other forms of contemporary music. Students perform in their
own rock bands.
Chamber recital:
For students studying classical piano
and voice, jazz piano, woodwind, brass or string instruments.
Students perform as duos, trios, quartets, quintets, and other
chamber groups. Teachers act as coaches throughout the year
to educate students on proper performance habits.
